Harley Davidson Sportster XL 883 Low (2006)

  How I got this bike:

  My friend Carl, who knows my interest in buying bikes, called me to tell me about this bike owned by a woman friend of his. He'd seen the bike before and knew it would be a good deal.  He arranged for me to see it that day.  Little use (6,458 miles) and garage stored. The price was good so no negotiation needed.  Picked it up the next day, July 11, 2017.

  It came with some extras:

• - windshield (and a lock for it)

• - rear rack and tail trunk

• - leather saddle bags in excellent condition

• - electric jacket liner and gloves, chaps

• - large size leather roll bag

• - oil and a filter

   I registered the bike one week later using the plate from the Honda Blackbird 1100 which I hadn't ridden yet this season.  The tires needed air and it was low on gas, both due to infrequent use I figured.  I had to remount the windshield.  The clamps were below the fork stops so they would have limited travel to about 2 inches.  I've taken off the trunk and given that away. Same with the chaps and gloves.

Ride With Friends - Sept. 2017

   First ride of the season is on this bike, Feb. 20, 2018 - 62 F.  Late afternoon ride with just some wet roads.  I have the starting drill perfected; full choke, a few twists of the throttle and then crank the starter until it catches.  Bike is posted on Craigslist with 7,000 miles for $3,975.
